WZ Special Feature: The Giants of Wrestling – Past and Present

King Kong Bundy

King Kong Bundy

At a billed 6 foot 4 inches and 458 pounds—King Kong Bundy wasn’t the biggest on the roster but he had marketability all over him, which has allowed his legacy to live on with such respect today.

Bundy had a name that intimidated and a look that stood out. He fit right in debuting in 1981 with professional wrestling as the sports was filled with larger than life characters that you had to see to believe. In my opinion, Bundy wasn’t used to his fullest abilities, but that didn’t stop him from getting some high profile matches.

At WrestleMania 2, he would take a part in one of the big main event matches when he faced off with Hulk Hogan in a steel cage.

Aside from being in the mix throughout the 80s, he also worked in a unique and original gimmick. He would demand the referee give him a five count which further put over some of his dominant wins.

Bundy would make a return to WWE for 1994 and 1995. He put his name in the history books by being one of the early victims of The Undertaker’s undefeated WrestleMania streak.

In addition to settling in with professional wrestling, Bundy has been able to take his unique look and natural talents to other stages. He has progressed with the times. He’s appeared on television, movies, the stand up comedy stage and is one of my favorite people to follow on Twitter. I promise, you will laugh.
