Wrestlezone’s Top 10: Forgettable Wrestlemania Matches

Number 10: Maven vs. Goldust: Wrestlemania X-8

Goldust

With a pretty solid card at Wrestlemania 18, featuring Jericho/Triple H and Rock/Hogan, there was bound to be a moment that should not have ever happened. With winning Tough Enough, WWE really wanted to invest time and effort into Maven, a guy that had more of a generic look than ANY character on WWF No Mercy on Nintendo 64. This was for the Hardcore Championship, and was simply terrible. Maven and Goldust was randomly thrown together, and had basically no reason to be at Wrestlemania. Yeah, they only wasted 3 minutes, but that is all you needed to know. At a time where hardcore wrestling was flooding into the WWE, you are telling me they couldn’t have had a better pairing? Thankfully, Maven did not last long after this. It is ashame his biggest accomplishment was elimination Undertaker in a Royal Rumble match. What is even more ashame is that someone thought that was a good idea.
