Stars in Progress: Lesnar/HHH, Tag Team Champs, Chris Jericho

Call me Negative Nelly today, but Raw was a bore last night. Weeks are running out until WrestleMania, and suprisingly, the only match I'm looking forward to (on a level I should be for 'Mania) is Brock Lesnar vs Triple H.

If you would have asked me if that was possible one month ago, I would have said no.

Nevertheless…

Chris JerichoChris Jericho – One Step Down

Please say it ain't so! There are rumors of a WrestleMania match between Fandango and Chris Jericho. Excuse me for a second while I gag.

Jericho's run "this" time around has been rather enjoyable, but I have zero interest in him giving the rub to an unproven, likely-to-never-be-proven rookie gimmick like Fandango. Is "Dancing With The Stars" going to be the story or something? No thanks, not interested.

There's only two people in my circle of trusted wrestling buddies that have a positive feeling about Fandango and his future. I called them "idiots" the other day and might have ruined a friendship over it. But I feel that strongly, too.

Success is a relative term, I get that. IF Johnny Curtis "succeeds" with this gimmick, he's looking at a short run as a low-card to mid-card champion, and then a career of jokes made at his expense. Plus a TON of jobs. If he's unsuccessful, he's looking at a near-impossible task of recovering, rebranding, and rebuilding. Only this time, it won't be from scratch – it will be with the stench of a failed gimmick to overcome.

And Jericho, I could think of about 2,256 things I'd rather see him do at WrestleMania. And one of them includes jump rumping on stilts while Hornswoggle and a returning Repo Man swing the rope.
