Wrestlezone’s Top Ten WWE Elimination Chamber Participants

#7 – CM Punk

cm punk early releaseThe Second City Saint may not see the inside of an Elimination Chamber match ever again, but since he's been in four of them, we'll cut him a break.

CM Punk first entered the Chamber in 2006 – yes, he's really been around that long – participating in the now infamous ECW Championship match. In fact, that Chamber match and the Hardy Boyz tag team match earlier in the night saved December to Dismember from being one of the worst PPV events in history. Less than 5,000 people attended, and less than 100,000 people bought it at home – amidst creative differences and a lot of throwing people under the buss, this was the show that saw Paul Heyman leave the company.

Four years later, Punk entered the Elimination Chamber for the second time, rising up against the likes of the Undertaker, Chris Jericho and Rey Mysterio. Though he was unsuccessful in his attempt to win the World Heavyweight Championship, Punk eliminated R-Truth in only ten minutes. The next year Punk eliminated both Randy Orton and John Morrison, wrestling for half an hour inside the cell before John Cena won and went on to the main event of WrestleMania. But it was in 2012 when, for the first time, the longest reigning champion of the modern era defended his WWE Championship inside the Elimination Chamber, pinning R-Truth and the Miz, and knocking out Chris Jericho to retain. In that match, CM Punk became one of only two men to eliminate the same person in two different Chamber matches.
