Stars in Progress: Damien Sandow Meets Wolverine, Who’s Winning the Shield vs. Evolution War?, Two Bearded Champions, More

Dolph Ziggler & Damien Sandow: Steps Down

But why? You would think being seen on WWE television with a global mega star like Hugh Jackman would be excellent exposure for two midcard Superstars, one of which is a former World Heavyweight Champion. Here's the thing – the last time Wolverine was on Raw Dolph got knocked out by a movie star. At that point you would have thought it was good exposure. It probably was. Since then Ziggler has been to the mountain top, there and back again from nothing to world champion, and… now where is he?

Association with celebrities only enhances your career if WWE actually plans to use you in an official capacity moving forward. For the past six months Ziggler and Sandow have been the brunt of dozens of on-screen jokes, trotting them out to the ring whenever a ridiculous gimmick needs to be played out. They are both former Money in the Bank holders, and both have become glorified enhancement talent. Jackman was another gimmick. WWE couldn't, and shouldn't say "no" to any mainstream exposure, but they also didn't want to risk putting him alongside any useful stars involved in an ongoing story.
