Isenberg’s Reaction: WWE Smackdown “Big Opportunities For Young Talent”

Ryback and Rowan defeated Kane and Rollins

wwe smackdown(Coverage from WZ Live Account)

Erick Rowan hits Rollins a few times and slams him in the corner, then Rollins retreats to his corner and ties up with Rowan, pushing him across the ring. Ryback tags himself in and whips Rollins across the ring, then Rollins chops him a few times before he catches him with some elbows. Ryback picks him up and rams him into the opposite turnbuckles, then he slams his head down a few times and whips him. Rollins reverses and dropkicks him as we go to a break, then we get back to see Show clothesline Rowan on the floor, then Rollins splashes him in the corner before Rowan finally knocks Show down and gets the tag. Ryback hits Rollins a few times before Rollins blocks a side slam with a crucifix pin, then Ryback press slams him and sets up for Shell Shocked.

Mercury and Noble distract Ryback and Rollins tries to steal the pin, but Ryback kicks out and sidesteps a Curb Stomp before he hits a spinebuster. Ryback calls for a Meathook but Kane jumps on the apron, so Ryback clotheslines him and Rollins kicks him in the back of the head. The referee ends up throwing Kane out, then he continues to argue with the ref so a group of referees come down and force him to leave. Rollins tags out but the ref denies it, saying he never saw it while he was dealing with Kane, and Rowan bicycle kicks him off the apron. Ryback runs back in and hits Rollins with a Meathook, then he follows with Shell Shocked for the win.

After watching the main Event, a few things are sticking out in my mind. First, Ryback is going to keep getting a relative push. I am not against this, but I do think that Ryback is not good enough to be a world champion. He is good where he is, potentially more. I do not want WWE to throw him in some big main event in the near future. Especially at a time where we hope to see Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan back, he could easily get a huge push now only to be irrelevant in 2 months.

I do like how WWE is making Erick Rowan this “big” man. He is 6 foot 7 and 300 pounds. I wonder if they need to showcase how big he really is by a small costume change? His biggest features are the beard and the size. Do not hide either of those. As for Seth Rollins, I can easily see him vs. Randy Orton at WrestleMania. I would hold Orton off until the Royal Rumble match and have him come out to eliminate Rollins. After that, you only have less than two months. They have the pieces in place. Do not be surprised if Rollins stays the course and continues to put on great matches. He is arguably the best heel they have on a weekly basis.
