STEP DOWN: John Cena
“Don’t ever give up John! Don’t you give up!” Yeah, yeah. We get it.
I’m not normally one to be down on John Cena, but that Raw promo was the epitome of been there, done that. When John is good, he’s really good. When he’s bad, he’s really boring. He managed to rally the fans somewhat with the pro-America “this is what we do” speech, which made me literally laugh out loud. I can appreciate his intensity, which did pick up by the end, but Cena is going to have to pull something new out of his hat soon if he wants me to reinvest in his character 13 years in.
Rusev and Lana on the other hand, were impressive. Lana in particular handled herself on the mic quite well, and Rusev has done a great job proving the cheesy foreign heel gimmick can work in a cynical 21st century world. Well done guys.
