Isenberg Reacts: WWE Smackdown “Sheamus Could Be Huge”

Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan

wwe smackdownSheamus, with his new look and new song/entrance, uppercuts Daniel Bryan a couple of times and hits a backbreaker. He heelish-ly taunts the crowd and we head to a break.

After the break, Sheamus continues the offense with a release suplex and begins to mock Bryan. Daniel Bryan is able to reverse a move and then hit some kicks and sends Sheamus to the outside. He hits a Suicide Dive, followed by a missile dropkick. Sheamus gets thrown into the turnbuckle and is able to escape. He tries to hit Ten Beats, but Bryan headbutts his way out of it. They head to the outside and Sheamus throws Bryan into the commentary table. Bryan is busted open and Barrett hits a Bullhammer. Daniel Bryan is counted out and Sheamus wins.

Sheamus’ new look works. His entrance music and lighting is perfect. They stripped the green and orange and substituted black and white. I can see them slowly adding green back into the mix, but this new attitude impresses me. Sheamus needs to be booked to the moon right now and shoved down our throats so we boo him. Many people wanted to see him turn heel, so this is a positive.

As for Bryan and Barrett, I fully expect these three and Ziggler to be chasing the championship that Daniel Bryan holds. This could be fun and the best part is that 3 of the 4 guys have been legit world champions before. I wonder how WWE books Barrett and Sheamus as heels. Will one overshadow the other too much? Barrett is a likable heel, while Sheamus can bring an old school heel persona to the screen on a weekly basis. I do not see many people cheering him in the future, and that is the key. Too many heels are cheered each week. Sheamus will not.

Seth Rollins Rolling as Champion

Seth Rollins kicks off Smackdown about becoming world champion and is interrupted by Randy Orton. Orton talks about beating Seth Rollins at WrestleMania and how he deserves a championship match. This leads to Big Show vs. Randy Orton. After somewhat of a short match, Mercury gets involved and Orton wins via disqualification. As the beating ensues, Ryback saves the day for Orton.

Seth Rollins is rolling on the mic as champion. The guy is a star and was the right call in who should be the next champion after Lesnar. With a Roman Reigns interview later in the show, the focus for the first 15-20 minutes was Orton/Rollins. I really feel Roman Reigns should be added at Extreme Rules, just to keep his main event status intact. I would hate to see him fighting in a meaningless match against Kane or Big Show. It would really stunt his growth. Right now, there is no bigger attraction (excluding Brock Lesnar) than Seth Rollins as WWE Champion.
