Intercontinental Championship Match – Last Man Standing
Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens
Both talents have been part of a good build for this match which justifies the attached stipulation. It’s also nice to see that WWE are taking this title seriously by giving it a stipulation which is normally reserved for main event feuds. I do wonder whether Kevin Owens will win this and end up joining the League of Nations as it’s certainly been teased. I’m torn though as Dean has only just won this championship and a reign of six weeks isn’t exactly ideal.
Prediction: Kevin Owens to regain the title possibly through assistance from the League of Nations.
30 Royal Rumble Match for the WWE Championship
Roman Reigns will start as the number one entrant and attempt to go all the way to defend his newly won WWE Championship. This is a great move and allows for an awful lot of different possibilities. Will Triple H enter the Rumble? Will he win it? Will he just cost Reigns the Championship? Will Lesnar walk into the WrestleMania main event again as the Champion? Will a returning superstar or a debuting Superstar shock the world? So many things can happen here that it wouldn’t surprise me if WWE doesn’t do anything spectacular and plays the safe option of Roman retaining. Not the most exciting result but it would certainly continue his trend of overcoming every odd that Vince throws at him.
Prediction: Roman Reigns to retain
So there we have it! The Royal Rumble. I really hope this year is different than the last couple. The Rumble was always my favourite event when I was younger but it feels like a very long time since we’ve seen anything significant happen. This year’s event provides opportunity and let’s hope that WWE takes this opportunity to kick-start the road to the biggest WrestleMania of all time.
