Isenberg Reacts: WWE Raw “New Era Gets Keys To The Kingdom”

Asylum Match at Extreme Rules

Dean Ambrose comes out and trashes Chris Jericho. He talks about being a lunatic and how he was strapped inside a strait jacket on Smackdown. Chris Jericho comes out and begins to taunt the crowd and taunt Dean Ambrose. Dean Ambrose announces his stipulation for Extreme Rules. It will be an Asylum Match, with a unique looking steel cage and weapons hanging from the top. There is apparently no escape and Jericho will never be the same again, according to Ambrose.

I am going to try and be optimistic here with this match. Does it sound a little cheesy? Yes, but WWE has used so many cage matches and Hell in a Cell matches that I credit them for trying to be unique and giving Dean HIS own match. I could care less if a bucket if hanging and used as a weapon, but you did see a Kendo Stick and a bat with barbed wire. The potential for this match is always going to be good, but will Dean deliver? He MUST come out of this match looking better and crazier than ever. If WWE is telling him that they are giving a match just for him then he must capitalize on the creativity and try to think outside the box. If not, he will continue to be mediocre.

Dana Brooke defeated Becky Lynch

A similar match took place on Raw as it did on Smackdown last week. Becky started off hot and dropkicked Dana to the outside. She would go after Dana, but Brooke side stepped her and Becky hit the ground. Becky gets tossed into the barricade and Dana flexes to the crowd. She throws her back into the ring only to get taken down with a Bexplex. It looks as if Becky will pick up the win, but Dana is able to roll her up and pick up the win once again.

Tonight was a little sloppy from Brooke, but nothing too alarming. The timing was off for a few moves, but nothing that can’t be fixed. I stand by my word from last week saying that Dana Brooke has the potential and the look to be BIG in WWE. It is a matter of time, the right women to work with and the development from a bodybuilder to a pure athlete. She does not NEED to be the best technician, but she needs to hone her skills in the ring like Chyna or Nikki Bella did after getting repetition.

Fandango and Tyler Breeze defeated R-Truth and Goldust

Once again, another odd tag team match and pairing for these guys in a very random feud. R-Truth accidentally ran into Goldust and Breeze picked up the win for his team. After the match, Truth and Goldust talk backstage. Breeze and Fandango tell the vets “Welcome to the new era.” Okay, now I get it. WWE has been dragging this nonsense on because they want to see the younger guys get one up on the veterans. I do not hate it, but I do think it has taken WAY TOO LONG for this to be established. Why would this start before WrestleMania and not have the veterans together until mid-May? Will any of this be relevant come July? Unlikely.
