Isenberg Reacts: Previewing NXT Takeover Toronto and Why There Will Be New Champions

NXT Championship Match

SHINSUKE_NAKAMURA

Can it actually happen? Will Shinsuke Nakamura actually lose the NXT Championship to Samoa Joe, only three months after capturing it? If Samoa Joe somehow wins, it won’t be clean.

A screwjob finish could make for an interesting ending, with some outside interference (Sanity) or Joe using his dirty tactics to win. I just do not see this happening, though. Shinsuke Nakamura and Samoa Joe have had possibly the best and longest feud for the NXT Championship in history. With brutal assaults, a return and a contract signing that was different than others, both men have really emptied their tanks leading to this match. Is this the end? Will this be the final encounter?

My prediction is that Shinsuke will retain the NXT Championship and continue to represent this special brand. I expect this main event to take up about 35-40 minutes, with special entrances and a big fight feel to finish off the night. Hard hitting and intensity should reach their highest levels here and another “Match of the Year” candidate. With a loss for Samoa Joe, WWE should do the smart thing and give him some time off. If you let Joe sit out a month or two, introduce him in the Royal Rumble and give hi a credible feud heading into WrestleMania, he will immediately feel like a “main event” star on RAW or Smackdown. I would love to see his matches with guys like AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho. Whatever way they go, Samoa Joe has solidified himself as one of the best real heels in this company.
