After The New Day decided to grow a pair and not rely on a cheesy and corny gimmick, they would become WWE Tag Team Champions by defeating Cesaro and Tyson Kidd at Extreme Rules. Shortly after, riding the chorus of boos, The Prime Time Players would end up defeating The New Day at Money in the Bank. WWE knew that was a bad idea, as The New Day reclaimed the WWE Tag Team Championships at SummerSlam in 2015.

The Prime Time Players. The Lucha Dragons. The Ascension. Los Matadores. The Uso’s. None of these teams really came close to dethroning the champions, who were the best team in WWE. As they continued to dominate, they became somewhat likable. When it really happened is to be determined, but a small group of cheers would filter in the crowds during the end of 2015. By Royal Rumble 2016, The League of Nations were formed. God, it sounded like a good idea but really wasn’t. The best part of Sheamus, Rusev, Barrett and Del Rio together was WWE allowing the comedic relief of The New Day take over. “League of Booty” were three words that changed the course of The New Day. From those spoken words, The New Day became faces and would tear through crowds with their gimmick, their cereal and their entrances. A shot of entertainment, mixed with excellent in-ring ability would give the WWE Universe a big bowl of Booty O’s!

With the championship reign passing WrestleMania and seemingly no teams in sight, what did WWE do to try and save a division that was thin on talent?
