Isenberg Reacts: WWE RAW “A Tribute To The New Day”

Japan’s Exports and WWE’s Import

You could tell that when The League of Nations split up, there was nobody else for The New Day to feud with. Luckily, WWE had two teams waiting in the wings. WWE called on Japan, with Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson ready to answer the phone. The Club would come to WWE and be in line to get championship opportunities against The New Day. Honestly, I thought this would be the perfect team to take the titles from a comedy team. Gallows and Anderson are tough, established and have a solid and logical gimmick. They like to fight. There is nothing pretty about these two guys in the ring and that is the way they like it. WWE would also have another alternative.

Enzo and Cass debuted the night after WrestleMania. A huge ovation and immediate interest from the crowd gave these guys a main event spotlight almost immediately. They teamed with John Cena. They main evented RAW shows. The New Day had two new teams to feud with. As the feuds filtered into the summer months, rumblings of a record being broken began to be screams. The New Day, unknowingly to many, were creeping up on the longest tag team championship reign in WWE history. They wanted to demolish (get it) the record held by Axe and Smash. Thankfully, they did not have to defend it at Survivor Series. That gave them another month coasting to history. History would be tested and we saw last night that two triple threat matches would not stop them. The New Day will break the record tonight at midnight. They deserved it.

There were many times I thought that The New Day would lose. Whether it was at SummerSlam or even at WWE Money in the Bank in June, I felt that a new team needed to get the rub of beating them. Are Enzo and Cass less interesting? No. Are Gallows and Anderson less interesting? Not necessarily, although I do wish there is something bigger for them sooner rather than later. If I know them, which I do, I bet they are okay with their paychecks but still want to accomplish great things in WWE. They still have plenty of time, as it has only been eight months since their debut.

Who? Who? Who? That is the question everyone is asking. Who will beat The New Day?
