The Viper vs. The Lone Wolf. Baron Corbin vs. Randy Orton main evented WWE Smackdown Live and it was a really solid contest. With Baron Corbin, he continues to impress and give us solid outings. It helps that he is learning from AJ Styles, John Cena and Randy Orton. The main event ended in dramatic fashion, as an RKO ended the night for Corbin. It did not end the night for Randy Orton. An attack from Mahal and The Singh Brothers proved that WWE will do whatever it takes to make the fans believe that Jinder Mahal will win on Sunday.

Do you think he will win? Honestly, this reminds me of when Sheamus defeated John Cena for his first world championship at WWE TLC 2009. Sheamus won a “Breakthrough Battle Royal” that was set up by Jesse Ventura. He would go onto defeat John Cena. Jinder Mahal won a Battle Royal on Smackdown. Both men, although different in their career paths, proved in the weeks that led that they could be on the same level as two future hall of famers. I am leaning more and more towards WWE giving us a dirty win and Jinder Mahal becoming WWE Champion.

It is May, there are going to be two more Pay-Per-Views where you have Jinder Mahal potentially drop it. Hey, what is to say that Rusev isn’t that guy? Although short, both men teamed together on WWE RAW and brought out Hard Body Mahal and Handsome Rusev. That would be something that makes sense to go back to, but still including Randy Orton.

I hope WWE lets Backlash be more of a flash to the future and not just another B-Leveled Pay-Per-View that bridges mediocre storylines.
