Isenberg Reacts: Previewing SummerSlam From The Smackdown Live Side

Randy Orton vs. Rusev

The Viper vs. The Machka is a feud that has very little backstory and not much build. Rusev needed someone to fight and Randy Orton needed someone to fight. I fear they let Randy Orton win this match, especially since he is coming off multiple losses to Jinder Mahal since June. (Not including the Smackdown Live victory) I really want Rusev to be viewed as a main event talent because he has that ability. He should have been a world champion before Jinder Mahal, no doubt. He has faced the likes of John Cena at WrestleMania, while Mahal has not had a single’s bout on the grand stage.

It is amazing how things can change and still feel the same. Randy Orton, an incredible talent and performer, stays in random feuds that feel like main events but are not. If Rusev loses here, what is the point of this match? Does Randy Orton REALLY need another win over a younger guy who deserves a push?

His life outside of his obsession with wrestling include being a savant for Seinfeld, NFL, NBA, MLB and many television shows. He also has an undying love for musicals, which includes many shows he was a part of in high school. Some of his favorite wrestling moments can be linked to such superstars as Edge, The Rock, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and The Great Khali.
