#2.) ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin vs Bret Hart – Survivor Series

The first (and only) entry on this list not to feature Shawn Michaels saw the rising star Steve Austin take on Bret Hart at Survivor Series – somewhat a prelude to their WrestleMania classic the following year. However, it’s undoubtedly an underrated match because its not talked about as much as it should have.

It told an interesting story about how Hart returned to WWF only to find that things had changed. Austin was one who was making life a living hell for Hart and they would go at it in a #1 contenders match for the WWF Championship. The psychology of the match was unparalleled and it was intense in every way, with Hart being the babyface and Austin being the heel.

Hart won by a stroke of luck because Austin wouldn’t let go of his manoeuvre, getting pinned on the mat instead. Though Austin left in disappointment, it was clear that their rivalry was far from over.
