#5.) The Rock vs Triple H – 1998

The secondary match of SummerSlam 1998 at Madison Square Garden featured The Rock, still a young upstart at the time take on another young up-and-comer in Triple H, who was a part of DX at the time, leading the faction. At Fully Loaded the prior month, the two warriors had a 2-out-of-3 falls match that ended in a no contest, prompting Triple H to challenge The Rock in a ladder match at the biggest party of the summer.

The Rock accepted and the stage was set, as the two would go to war a few years before they would main event the biggest PPVs competing for the biggest title. It was a preview of what was to come years from then and they delivered in a big way, proving that after Steve Austin, they were the two stars to focus on the most. Thanks to assistance from Chyna, Triple H managed to ascend the ladder and become the Intercontinental Champion.

Little did The Rock know that there were much bigger things awaiting him just a few months away.
