#4.) Edge

Edge is one of the most legendary world champions of the modern era and his incredible resumé speaks for itself. With 11 World titles and 30+ championships won in WWE, he’s one of the most decorated superstars of all time. In 2011, nobody knew that Edge was on the verge of retirement.

He faced Alberto Del Rio in a defense of his World Heavyweight title and in the WrestleMania opener, he beat the Mexican superstar. Little did anybody know that it was the end of his run and Edge himself stated that he wasn’t able to feel his hands during that match. Unfortunately, that turned out to be the end as he announced his retirement soon after.

However, the circumstances of his retirement couldn’t have been more perfect. He may not have been able to go on his own terms, but the fact that he retired as World Champion certainly topped off his epic career.
