In the first half of 2002, The Next Big Thing Brock Lesnar was on a tear, ripping through many opponents and many legends as well. It was clear that he was destined to reach the top in no time and that’s exactly what WWE did as they gave him a win at King of The Ring.
It was hardly a few months into his run but he had impressed and was all set to be WWE’s next huge star. In this case, the winner of the King of The Ring tournament would earn a WWE Championship shot at SummerSlam 2002 and that’s something that WWE needs to bring back. Lesnar would win the tournament and in a blockbuster main event at Madison Square Garden – he defeated The Rock to become the youngest WWE Champion in history.
