Milwaukee Approves Site For Statue Of Legendary Wrestler

There was a campaign going on throughout the wrestling circles of the internet to fund the makings of a statue of AWA great Da Crusher, real name Reginald Lisowski. The campaign was plugged on Bruce Prichard’s popular Something To Wrestle podcast, and recently surpassed its $40,000 goal. The statue has been approved for a specific site off Milwaukee Avenue at the South Milwaukee Farmers Market and will begin to be built in June. Milwaukee’s local NBC affiliate, TMJ 4, reported on this statue’s importance and got comments from Mayor Erik Brooks, well as the man heading the group to have the statue funded, Christopher Smith:

“We want to honor our heritage, he’s a part of our heritage,” said Brooks.

For months a group has been raising money to pay for the statue. Recently they surpassed their goal of $40,000 and helped the city choose the site.

“There’s just not a lot of things a current wrestling fan can find about the crusher,” said Christopher Smith who is heading up the group. “I thought something needed to be done to preserve his memory. He embodied everything about the history of South Milwaukee. He would come out to Polka music. He’d talk about beer drinking.”
