During tonight’s NXT, Shayna Baszler retained her NXT Women’s Championship by defeating Io Shirai in a steel cage match. While Shirai came up short, what she did after the match left the crowd surprised. After Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir interfered with the match and prevented Shirai from escaping the cage, Candice LeRae came out to help.
Although LeRae was able to help keep things even, Shirai was still unable to win. After the match, Shirai was being checked on by LeRae when Shirai surprisingly attacked her friend. She continued to beat down LeRae and then left the ring to grab a steel chair, which she then used to continue delivering a beating to LeRae. Shirai ended up heading up the ramp, claiming that she didn’t need friends, and leaving LeRae to be checked on.
