Rey Mysterio On AEW Being Good For Competition, The Current WWE Stars He’d Have A Great Match With

Rey Mysterio recently spoke with Wrestlezone’s Kevin Kellam about his WWE career and said there’s plenty of talent on the current roster that he hasn’t stepped in the ring with. Before his injury, Rey had a number of highly-praised matches with Andrade. Rey compared their chemistry to what he had with Eddie Guerrero, and also said Finn Balor and Ricochet—who won the United States Championship since our interview—would be great opponents.

“I think going toe-to-toe with Finn Balor, not I think—it would be a good match, to be able to step in the ring in a singles match. Ricochet is up-and-coming, and that kid is awesome. I feel like he’s on a different level. He’s a future WWE Superstar without a doubt in my mind, of course Andrade is right there as well.

A lot of people have asked me how it’s been to wrestle Andrade. There’s incredible chemistry with him. He does bring some of the magic that I had with Eddie [Guerrero] just because he has that lucha style, and like myself, he’s a second generation wrestler.”

Rey also talked about All Elite Wrestling’s arrival, saying he remembers what it was like during the Monday Night Wars, and noted that competition is definitely going to get everyone to step it up.

“I have to go back and reminisce on that Monday Night War era. It was definitely a very entertaining stage for the fans because they had a variety of wrestling that they could watch. They could tune in here or tune in there or go back and forth depending on what your preference was. For me in particular, I wasn’t too hooked on the political side of it, so I was just enjoying myself every time I had a chance to perform in front of a live audience.

It’s definitely great for business. Anytime that there’s a variety of something that you really like, it’s a good thing, even good for the morale of the locker room. We definitely want to be on our ‘A’ game, we don’t want to be ‘B’ or ‘C’. We’re going to have to step up our game and that’s always good for business.”
