Steve Austin Talks Becky Lynch’s Monumental 18-Month Run & Not Needing Stone Cold’s Endorsement

Steve Austin was just on Busted Open Radio with Dave LaGreca and Bully Ray and the trio got on the topic of Becky Lynch. Austin had nothing but high-praise for “The Man” and even said that these past 18 months for her as a performer has been one of the most remarkable high-profile runs he can remember. Austin also addresses why he thinks Becky doesn’t need an endorsement like sharing an in-ring Broken Skull I.P.A. from “The Texas Rattlesnake.” Quotes and clip from the show are below:

“That gimmick ‘The Man,’ and a lot of people they’d draw comparisons to “Stone Cold” or Conor McGregor, whatever. Hey man, that’s a whole different thing. And she’s pulling it off flawlessly. And I think she’s had one of the best – for the last 18 months – probably the most premiere run in the history of wrestling for a female and high-profile run, regardless male/female.”

BULLY RAY: “Why did we not get, at the very least, Becky Lynch drinking a beer with you at the end of RAW Reunion?”

AUSTIN: “I don’t know that she really needs my anointing or does that – would that (LaGreca: ‘passing of the torch’) because she is kind of like you doesn’t mean I’m saying, ‘Hey, you are like me'”

LAGRECA: “Or could it be detrimental that you’re in the ring with Becky Lynch?”

AUSTIN: “I think she has her own thing going. Like [the] Mitch Hedberg thing. He says, ‘I got my own thing going.’ I think she’s got her own thing going. And Bully, you can make an argument for it either way and it’s going to be 50/50. I just don’t think she needed my endorsement. Maybe somewhere down the road if there’s an organic storyline that would come up and maybe she needs some help or something like that. But I think she stands on her own pretty damn well.”
