NXT Won’t Have Any Live Matches This Week

UPDATE: WWE sent out a statement that reads, “Tomorrow night’s NXT will air as regularly scheduled in a modified format with elements ranging from in-depth character profiles and story breakdowns as well as never-before-seen interviews and content.”

WWE RAW only featured one live match last night and it looks like NXT will feature even less in-ring action.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, this week’s episode of NXT won’t have a single live match due to coronavirus concerns. “Confirmed, no live matches on NXT tomorrow,” Meltzer tweeted. Instead it will be a studio setting with “interviews, personality profiles, [and] old footage.” No word yet on what AEW Dynamite will be doing on the same night.

It’s a big change from Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown, which featured multiple matches even if it wasn’t as busy as a typical episode. We’ll continue to see how the pandemic impacts wrestling in the coming weeks as WrestleMania is set to emanate from the WWE Performance Center on April 5.
