In AEW, Matt Hardy Wants To Create The ‘Most Layered Character In Wrestling History’

One of the biggest names in All Elite Wrestling at the moment is Matt Hardy. Fresh from a high profile few weeks opposite Randy Orton on RAW, Hardy jumped onto Dynamite and fully dove back into his own Broken Brilliance. Of course, it’s not the exact same version of the character we came before, and that’s by design. As we saw two weeks ago in a street fight, Hardy is seemingly shifting between personalities at the drop of a hat. In a conversation with the New York Post, Matt goes into his goals for where he’s taking the character going forward.

It’s like Bruce Banner and the Incredible Hulk in a lot of ways. There are two entities within my body and I think as time goes on one of my goals here is to create one of the most layered characters in wrestling history, and I think you are going to see many more entities from Matt Hardy, some from his past, some new. I don’t know, maybe it will end up being that maybe Matt has a lot of different personalities floating around in his head. We don’t know. But it’s going to be an interesting story and I’m very excited to tell it and paint my masterpiece in the next year or so in AEW.

Matt also tried to describe what a “Stadium Stampede” match might look like ahead of Saturday’s Double or Nothing PPV. He states that it’s a match with “10 guys that are super hungry and creative and innovative.” and that will make it a match that people will talk about forever. With the preceding street fight as a “launching pad”, it’s likely we’ll get at least a few memorable moments during the show this weekend.
