Sonya Deville On Why She Wants To Be The Next Batwoman

Following Ruby Rose’s exit from “Batwoman,” many fans are curious to see who will replace Rose. Several celebrities have thrown their hats in the ring, and Sonya Deville recently joined the list. In an interview with Scott Fishman of TV Insider, Deville explained that she wants the role because it would increase the inclusivity of on-screen superheroes.

“When I was a girl growing up… I remember watching Superman and Batman and thinking, ‘Why can’t there be more female superheroes in the spotlight?’” said Deville via Fishman. “‘You had Wonder Woman, but that wasn’t at the forefront like it is now. Ruby Rose being a member of the LGBTQ community and being Batwoman, I remember when I heard she got the role. I was so excited. I thought it was huge and inspiring. When I saw she stepped out, I was like, ‘This is a no-brainer. I can do my own moves. I fit the role. We can also keep on the message you can be a woman. You can be gay. You can be a superhero.’ I think it speaks for itself.’”

In the interview, Deville also discussed her feud with Mandy Rose and her goals as a member of WWE Friday Night SmackDown. “I want to continue ruining Mandy Rose’s life,” said Deville via Fishman. “ When I’m finished there, Sonya is going to go on to prove she is not only the best in the ring, but on the mic. She is the best all-around athlete.”

Deville also said she has her sights set on the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship. With her recent rise to stardom, that goal may be reachable; her future looks brighter than ever.
