Edge Reportedly Tore Tricep During WWE Backlash (UPDATE)

UPDATE: Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer is reporting that parts of the match were taped several times and his sources say that the Edge injury occurred on what would have been the second set of tapings for the bout. The particular moment as to when the injury occurred is still unknown but Meltzer speculates that it could have been when Orton and Edge did another take of the top rope RKO spot.

Heading into The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever, the stakes were high at WWE Backlash. For Edge, the match marked his first regular wrestling contest in over nine years. Edge returned to WWE at WWE Royal Rumble and eventually defeated Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing Match at WWE WrestleMania 36. WWE Backlash was supposed to be the next step in a sustained comeback for the Rated R Superstar. Unfortunately, Edge’s triumphant return has hit a substantial article, as Edge reportedly tore his tricep during his match with Randy Orton at WWE Backlash. Fightful first reported the injury and multiple sources, including Mike Johnson of PWInsider, confirmed it. According to Johnson, the match was taped weeks ago, and WWE has tried to keep the injury out of the headlines. Recovery times vary, but Edge could be out between 4-8 months.

WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
