Shayna Baszler On Teaming With Nia Jax: ‘I Can Put Aside The Fact That I Really Hate Her’

Shayna Baszler appeared on this week’s episode of WWE’s The Bump. She discussed winning the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship with Nia Jax. Here are some highlights:

On teaming with Nia Jax:

Baszler: “I’m not gonna say I’m gonna handle any conversation on her behalf, but I think what you guys see is that we’re professionals, we’re professional athletes, and so you know, as far as the tag team titles, we can at least, I can put aside the fact that I really hate her actually, and get in the ring and work to a common thing. You know, if you go to any sport organization, I doubt everyone on an NFL team gets along ,but when they go on the field on Sundays, they have to work together.”

“We’re a team as far as what needs to be done to come together to win and to hold the Women’s Tag Team titles. I’m not gonna say that we’re best friends like the Four Horsewomen, the four of us are, I’m not even gonna say I’m gonna invite her over to Sunday barbecue. You know what I mean? I go to work, and I do my job as far as it is to be the Women’s Tag team Champions.”

“If it wasn’t for me, we wouldn’t be the Women’s Tag Team Champions, plain and simple. I took two of the top girls in the world on by myself. If she’s not aware of it now, she’s gonna have to learn the hard way and that’s that.

On whether she still plans to pursue the WWE RAW Women’s Championship:

Baszler: “Well, obviously the priority is going to be remaining champion, but anyone that gets into this without the goal of becoming the champion or turning down any of those opportunities isn’t going to go very far. So obviously, I’m gonna go after every title that’s available to me. The Tag Team Championships kind of just came along as a quid pro quo thing. If this gets me closer to the goal of becoming known as the best women’s wrestler in WWE, then that’s the steps I’m gonna take.”
