Report: More IMPACT Wrestling Contracts Possibly Expiring Soon, WWE Interested In Free Agents

More IMPACT Wrestling talent contracts may be expiring in the next month than those that are publicly known.

Ethan Page’s contract is up on January 1, 2021 and Jake Crist was granted his release two weeks ago, but Fightful is reporting that we might see more talent entering the free agency pool before or shortly after the promotion’s next set of television tapings in January.

As it was explained by Fightful, in early 2019, several talents were announced as re-signing with the company, but they were announced months after those deals were actually signed. Additionally, those contracts would have already been in effect, so while it looks like they have more time before expiring, some of them will actually run out on January 1. The contract expiration dates are notable because IMPACT has tapings in January and another one (speculated to be in March), so it would mean a difference in having certain talent available for several more months or none at all.

On a related note, WWE might be looking to their old rival in its attempts to add new stars. A new report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer states that WWE is sending feelers out for some of IMPACT Wrestling’s top stars. Per Meltzer, WWE has been trying to find out when these stars’ contracts expire in order to potentially swoop in and sign them.

It’s worth noting that there’s been a lot of buzz surrounding IMPACT Wrestling recently due to its collaboration with All Elite Wrestling. The presence of Kenny Omega on IMPACT Wrestling has excited many fans about the potential future of this partnership.

WWE has recently dipped into IMPACT’s talent pool. Zachary Wentz and Dezmond Xavier, who excelled with IMPACT as The Rascalz, recently signed with WWE. Of course, several former WWE stars are thriving in IMPACT, too. Rich Swann is currently the IMPACT World Champion while The Good Brothers won the IMPAC World Tag Team Championship just a few months after they left WWE.

WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
