GCW Files To Dismiss IWTV’s Lawsuit Against Them Due To Lack Of Claim ‘Upon Which Relief Can Be Granted’

GCW has filed to dismiss the lawsuit it has been facing in an ongoing struggle with IndependentWrestling.TV (IWTV), following the promotion’s decision to move to FITE.

Per Mike Johnson of PWInsider, GCW’s motion, filed on August 30, claims that IWTV has failed “to state a claim upon which relief can be granted.”

The lawsuit, which had been filed this past June, stemmed from IWTV’s claim that GCW breached its contract with the service; IWTV claimed that GCW was responsible for over $500,000 of damages because the company has held 36 pay-per-view events after it informed the streaming platform that it would be “breaching” their previous deal in December 2020. Despite a previous claim in which IWTV informed the promtoion about this breach, GCW continues to broadcast its pay-per-view events elsewhere.

IWTV and GCW owner Brett Lauderdale previously issued statements on the matter, which can be found here.
