Matt Cardona Thanks Deathmatch Fans For Their ‘Years Of Support,’ Teases Major Announcement At ‘GCW Get Lost Alot’

It was a brief and memorable run, but it looks like Matt Cardona has seemingly ended his run as a deathmatch wrestler.

Matt Cardona memorably won the GCW World Championship in a brutal Deathmatch against Nick Gage at GCW Homecoming – Night One. He later lost the title to Jon Moxley at the promotion’s “The Art of War Games” event on September 4. In a tweet on Sunday night, Cardona thanked the deathmatch fans for their support and stated that his first deathmatch will be his last. The image in the tweet shows Cardona standing tall following his victory over Gage.

Cardona is seemingly being playful with the tweet; first, GCW fans famously threw bottles and other objects, like a pizza cutter, at him when he beat Gage. Next, as Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful pointed out, the message in the tweet is a direct copy of one GCW veteran Rickey Shane Page posted earlier this month. It’s unclear what Cardona has up his sleeve, but combined with the announcement that he’ll be making a “major” announcement at GCW’s “Get Lost Alot” show on September 24, it does seem like he’s having fun ahead of this revelation.

In addition to Cardona’s announcement, the current card for GCW’s “Get Lost Alot” is as follows:

  • Tony Deppen vs. Taiji Ishimori
  • Minoru Suzuki vs. Homicide
  • AR Fox vs. Alex Zayne

WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
