MVP is dealing with a legitimate injury.
Late last week, WWE announced that the mastermind behind The Hurt Business would be out due to a rib injury he suffered when Randy Orton RKO’ed him on the September 13 episode of RAW. While it was easy to assume this announcement was entirely part of a storyline, MVP is actually getting surgery.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer previously reported that MVP already had a procedure on his knee last week, but the former WWE United States Champion shined some light on the situation. First, he tweeted that his knee, rather than his rib, requires medical attention.
No. I'm going to get knee surgery while this rib heals. ? https://t.co/qoffsnfn21

He later posted an image on his Instagram in which he’s clearly wearing some kind of knee brace; in the caption, MVP wrote that while he hasn’t had surgery yet, he’ll be getting it soon.

It’s currently unknown how long he’ll be out of action.
WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
