MJF On The Pinnacle: We’re Great, We’re All Doing ‘Incredible Things In Our Own Right’

MJF shot down concerns about the way his stable, The Pinnacle has been seemingly drifting apart over the past few months.

Earlier this year, the group suffered a memorable defeat to The Inner Circle in a Stadium Stampede match at AEW Double or Nothing. Since then, MJF’s faction has rarely been seen as a united front. Though Wardlow and Shawn Spears have teamed up on a regular basis, and the duo has competed alongside FTR here and there, the group hasn’t felt like a traditional stable in some time. FTR has mainly been working in association with Andrade and, by extension, Malakai Black, for the last several weeks. Meanwhile, Wardlow and Spears have become a team in their own right, though they’ve maintaind their connection to the faction’s leader.

Still, MJF recently pointed out that The Pinnacle doesn’t have to be working together on AEW programming every week. In a new interview with Joseph Staszewski of The New York Post, MJF emphasized that the group’s members are great things in their own ways.

The Pinnacle’s great baby. It’s really funny to me. We’re not like Dark Order. We’re not like a bunch of weirdos that need to be connected at the hip 24/7. We’re all very passionate. We all have our own beliefs, but at the end of the day we’re all still friends, we’re all still family.

We are an incredible cohesive unit. It’s just the simple fact that since we’re not standing shoulder to shoulder like frickin’ weirdo penguins in the arctic, now all of sudden The Pinnacle is in trouble. We’re great. We’ve never been better and we’re all accomplishing incredible things in our own right.

Speaking of doing “incredible things,” MJF will have the chance to do that in his Long Island homecoming this week on AEW Dynamite when he aims to win the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal, and subsequently the ring, for the third time. He stated that his past victories have made the ring a prestigious accomplishment, and he plans to three-peat this year.

“I personally feel the ring doesn’t make the man, the man makes the ring and I’ve made this ring very special,” said MJF. “I’m about to be a three-time Dynamite Diamond Ring champion. To be able to say for three straight years you have won a championship in a row, there is only a handful of gentlemen in the history of sports that could say that they’ve done that and I am most certainly going to be.”

Fans will have to wait and see whether MJF will indeed make history Wednesday night on AEW Dynamite.
