Three of the four members of The Undisputed Era have found themselves in All Elite Wrestling, as Kyle O’Reilly has joined Adam Cole and Bobby Fish in the promotion.
O’Reilly was the latest guest on AEW Unrestricted to discuss a variety of subjects. When asked how it felt to make his debut with All Elite Wrestling, he described how it felt like a homecoming because he reconnected with old friends, in addition to his stablemates. He also recalled how his on-screen arrival was a “special moment” and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity.
“It was super cool,” O’Reilly admitted. “I wanna say stressful but it really wasn’t, it was just kind of like just exciting. Like a lot of my experiences in the last few years of wrestling have been very stressful and high-pressure situations. But this just felt I don’t know, it was like a homecoming. I just felt comfortable and ready to rock.
“It was just such a cool, exciting time. And of course, seeing everybody backstage, people that I came up within this business for years, I hadn’t seen in so long, it was just a really cool reunion of sorts and of course, the debut happens in this arena full of people and it just was so exciting. And I’m kinda getting goosebumps just thinking about it, reminiscing about it, but it was a special moment, and I’m so grateful to have had that opportunity with AEW.”
When asked about reuniting with Bobby Fish to reform reDRagon and aligning with Adam Cole, O’Reilly noted that he believes the fans were quite happy to see the three of them back together again. He also shined some light on an underrated aspect of his first match with the company; many fans focused on the Undisputed Era’s reunion on the “New Year’s Smash” episode of AEW Dynamite, but O’Reilly also has plenty of history with the men they faced, Best Friends.
“I think the people were just excited to see me and Adam and Bobby all together,” O’Reilly said. “It was like, it wasn’t just, ‘Oh there’s Kyle O’Reilly’, but it’s, ‘Oh, there’s Kyle O’Reilly and the three of those dudes are together, woah!’ Like that’s what made it kinda cool, I think. Wrestling with those guys and having a six-man tag against Best Friends, like these are dudes that I’ve known for a long time.
“So it was pretty cool and unique to have my debut with those guys as well. I was very comfortable in every aspect of it. It was really exciting and I can’t wait to get back in there. I can’t wait to be on TBS, I can’t wait to be on TNT again. I just can’t wait to come back and get back in the ring.”
As O’Reilly stated, he’s excited to return to the ring; he has been absent in recent weeks due to the birth of his daughter, Janine on February 17, and many fans are looking forward to seeing him wrestle again once he’s ready to do so.
