Tony Khan On The Rhodes’ Exit From AEW: It’s Not Something Any Of Us Wanted To Happen, I Wish Them Well

The wrestling world is still buzzing about the departure of both Cody and Brandi Rhodes from All Elite Wrestling, and Tony Khan shared his thoughts on the stunning development.

During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, the AEW CEO elaborated on the comments he made in his official statement earlier this week. He made it clear that he wishes Cody and Brandi well, and he’s appreciative of their contributions to AEW. Khan also noted that their exit was a sad outcome.

“I wish them both really well and I appreciate everything they did here in their different roles in the company,” said Khan. “And it’s very sad and not something any of us wanted to happen, I think, but I believe that Cody’s got something else in the works, I’m not sure about that, but we’ll see. I’m sure they’re gonna have great opportunities in wrestling and in life, and you never know what’s gonna happen in the future, I wish them the best and I’m very appreciative for everything they did here.”

In the aftermath of the news about the Rhodes’ exit, some fans reacted by harshly criticizing Brandi. In response, many members of the AEW team stepped up and spoke highly about her. When asked about this support, Khan explained that this past week showcased AEW’s “congenial” locker room, as the group is full of “classy” people.

“We have really classy people in this locker room,” said Khan. “It’s a bunch of really great people and it’s a great vibe at the shows, and it’s very congenial, so I’m not surprised by that. The people in this company are very close, and you saw that again this week. You know, I think from the way people express support and also the way everybody bonded together this week after the fact backstage. So [I’m] not surprised by that at all.”

Rumors about Cody Rhodes’ future continue to swirl, and it’s unclear what his next move will be, so fans will have to wait and see what happens next. Meanwhile, AEW presses on and prepares for its Revolution pay-per-view on March 6.
