Chris Jericho Turns Heel, Forms The Jericho Appreciation Society

Chris Jericho betrayed his Inner Circle stablemates Santana and Ortiz on the March 9 episode of AEW Dynamite.

To open the show, the former AEW World Champion reflected on his loss to Eddie Kingston at the Revolution pay-per-view. He stated that he regretted his decision to reject Kingston’s handshake on Sunday. Once he had the chance to cool off, he realized that “The Mad King” gave him an incredible match, so he wanted to thank his adversary to his face.

Kingston answered the call and cut an emotional promo, in which he referenced his mental health struggles and expressed his hope that he made his fans proud at Revolution. He then pointed out that Jericho’s refusal of the handshake was the former champion’s problem, not his own. Jericho responded by saying that he does respect Kingston, and he extended his hand. The two men shook hands.

But the warm moment turned out to be a trap. 2point0 and Daniel Garcia attacked Kingston and Jericho. Santana and Ortiz made the save, but Jericho swerved everyone when he turned on the duo. He hit Santana and Ortiz with his beloved bat before fellow Inner Circle member Jake Hager came to the ring. He acted like he was hurt by Jericho’s actions before the powerhouse joined his ally. Hager punctuated the attack by brutally powerbombing Kingston.

Jericho then grabbed a microphone and stated that the new group is the “Jericho Appreciation Society.”
