Edge Defeats AJ Styles, Aligns With Damian Priest At WrestleMania 38

Edge and AJ Styles clashed in a grudge match at WWE WrestleMania 38 Night Two.

What began as a dream match quickly turned sour when “The Rated-R Superstar” brutally attacked Styles and showcased his dark side in the weeks leading up to the event. Edge temporarily put Styles on the shelf with a Con-Chair-To, but “The Phenomenal One” returned ahead of “The Showcase of the Immortals.”

At WrestleMania Sunday, Edge came to the ring with a special entrance, as he sat in an elevated throne that was surrounded by flames. Meanwhile, Styles was bleeding before the match even started; he reportedly clipped the set, according to Ryan Satin of FOX Sports.

Once the bell rang, the two legends threw everything they had at each other. The two former world champions had their opponent scouted. Edge took control by targeting Styles’ shoulder and practically turning him into a one-armed warrior for stretches of the match. “The Ultimate Opportunist” continued to ground Styles, but “The Phenomenal One” rallied with a flurry of offense. A Torture Rack powerbomb earned Styles a two count. As the match stretched on, the battle became a test of endurance and will. Styles caught Edge with a kick to the head, and the two men traded submission attempts, and Edge got a two count with an Edge-O-Matic.

A superplex onto the ring apron left both men down, so the match was once again a stalemate. A springboard 450 splash earned Styles a two count. “The Phenomenal One” then hit the Styles Clash for a two count. In the end, Damian Priest distracted Styles, and Edge capitalized with a mid-air Spear for the win.

After the match, Priest knelt alongside Edge and laughed with him before the duo stood tall together.
