Mia Yim: Returning To IMPACT Has Helped Me Enjoy Wrestling Again

Thanks to a change of scenery, Mia Yim is starting to love wrestling again.

Yim recently returned to IMPACT Wrestling, where she previously won the Knockouts Championship, in May. The move came several months after WWE released her to end her run with the promotion.

In an interview with Alistair McGeorge of Metro.co.uk, Yim discussed her return and made it clear that she’s having fun again. She cited how tweking with Tasha Steelz during her first match back was a light-hearted moment where she could let loose.

“The first time that I wrestled in IMPACT coming back was a six-woman and Tasha twerked, and then I twerked after and it was the most purest [moment],” said Yim. “I’m like, we’re just having fun at this point and I didn’t even think that it would be this big gif on social media, but it became a thing. Of course you’re gonna have haters, but it’s like – dude, I’m just having fun!”

Yim also referenced how her time with WWE felt like work, whereas working in IMPACT is allowing her to enjoy wrestling again.

“The past couple of years, wrestling has felt like work,” said Yim. “Thankfully with IMPACT, I’m starting to fall in love with it again, I’m starting to enjoy wrestling again. This is the first time I’m able to just not worry about having to make sure to do this, this, this and this, and be micromanaged. I’m like, I’m just having fun and it’s so nice to not worry about anything.”

Moving forward, Yim is looking forward to the first-ever Queen of the Mountain Match at Slammiversary. She has made it clear that she’s aiming to steal the show, and in a more general sense, the veteran is confident that she’s back where she belongs.

“I’m ready to go,” said Yim. “This is where I belong and I’m ready to go to work.”
