Spoiler: Number One Contender For Interim AEW Title Determined During 7/1 AEW Rampage Taping

Jon Moxley can start preparing for his first defense of the Interim AEW World Championship, as a Battle Royale on the July 1 episode of AEW Rampage crowned his top contender.

Moxley won the title by defeating Hiroshi Tanahashi at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. The company decided to crown an interim champion after CM Punk, the proper world champion, announced that he would be out of action due to an injury.

Tony Khan subsequently announced the Royal Ramage Battle Royale for the July 1 episode of AEW Rampage, where the winner would earn a shot at Moxley’s title.

After the conclusion of the “Blood & Guts” edition of AEW Dynamite on Wednesday, AEW taped Friday’s episode of  Rampage. According to the Wrestling Observer, Brody King won the Royal Rampage, so he will challenge for the gold. This will mark the first time King has competed in a title match in the company; he signed with AEW in January.

WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
