Thunder Rosa Denies Being A Sandbagger, T-Shirt Is A Way To Own Criticism And Make Money

Thunder Rosa is demanding more respect from the fans for the women’s division in All Elite Wrestling, and that includes people accusing her of sandbagging opponents.

On this Friday’s episode of Busted Open Radio, co-host Thunder Rosa spoke about Wednesday’s women’s tag team match on AEW Dynamite that saw her and Toni Storm take on Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter. She also explained that she decided to debut a sandbagging t-shirt during her entrance because she’s tired of people making fun of her.

“We had a lot of praise for this match. We were on the second segment,” Thunder Rosa began. “We were given an opportunity to not be on the semi-main. We were on the second segment. And honestly, everybody that was in that match showed up to work. We had a great match. I think all of us, when we’re in the ring together, you can see it. There was an energy there. And like I said, probably the energy was I was pissed because I’m tired of people making fun of me. I’m tired of people bullying me in a way.

“So using the sandbagging t-shirt is a way for me to say keep bullying me because I’m gonna make money out of it. All right, straight up. You’re gonna call me fat. Well, guess what? I’ll be the biggest fat bitch in the world. Boom. I’m gonna do it because I’m gonna own it. I’m not a sandbagger. Let’s be honest; people are gonna have their opinions, fine. Have your opinions. Right there on Wednesday, the four of us, we showed up, showed off, and we have the people chanting; this is awesome. Why? Because they don’t get to see this all the time.

“Britt and Jamie have been together for a while now. For a while. And they can wear the same gear and everything. Toni and I; we are just getting started, and we’re learning from each other. But we have a lot of chemistry that was four women that have a lot of chemistry. The match was really good. Of course, I’m always I’m super particular about myself. I know there’s things that I need to work on. There’s little mistakes that I feel like I could have done better. But overall, people we’re invested in this match. People have been invested in this match. So with that said, it’s important that people focus on the good things that are happening and the little strides that we’re making to make the AEW women’s division better instead of focusing on the negative. That’s the thing, yeah, you want ratings? How about you actually focus on those things that are great instead of tearing it apart.”

Thunder Rosa also addressed the criticism online that they were hitting each other too hard in the tag team match on Dynamite Wednesday night.

“People are so used to seeing a certain type of wrestling for so many years, right,” Thunder Rosa said. “Then another criticism that I heard is that we were hitting each other really hard. Well, let me tell you something, guys. You guys want us to have a bra and panties match and shake our asses again? I mean, if that’s what you want, fine. But when you see us bleeding, when you see us like hitting hard. Why are you guys not saying nothing about some of the guys hitting each other really hard? Tell me! You tell me! It’s 2022!

“We are asking — we’re demanding for equality in the business. We’re giving the time, and we’re giving what we do best. That’s what you guys saw on Wednesday, and we want to get better every time we get in the ring. So if you’re asking me to look how people used to look because they were forced to look like that? I’m gonna tell you no. Tony Khan brought me here to AEW for a reason, and I said it right the first time I got here to AEW. Is that I want to help bring the AEW women’s division to another level, and I said that at the beginning, and I continue to say that as the AEW Women’s World Champion. That’s my commitment to professional wrestling. That is my commitment to women’s professional wrestling.”
