MJF referenced WWE in his first promo in months on AEW Dynamite.
MJF kicked off the September 7 episode of AEW Dynamite with his first promo since June 1. MJF, who made his shocking return in the Casino ladder match at All Out, initially played a babyface by catering to the New York crowd.
Jon Moxley interrupted, which led to MJF doing a complete 180. MJF reverted back to his roots by trashing New York and saying he’s going to soon be AEW World Champion.
He then directly referenced WWE and a few key figures. After mentioning “the bidding war of 2024” he said, “Maybe I take that title to a real wrestling company, with real wrestling fans, and real wrestlers like The American Rollercodester, Cody Rhodes” He also referenced Nick Khan and Triple H by using the phrase, “that’s best for business.”

MJF ripped his suit off and threatened to fight Moxley before retreating. Moxley took over and cut a passionate promo about AEW and importance of the AEW World Championship. The former champion noted that he was supposed to be on vacation, but the events of this weekend changed that. He made it clear he “wants the ball” and is ready to be the face of the company for a third time.
