Triple H Doesn’t Think Blood Is Necessary Anymore, Says ‘It’s Irresponsible To Go Back’

Triple H doesn’t think blood in a match like War Games is completely necessary anymore.

The War Games match is coming to the 2022 WWE Survivor Series event, but it doesn’t sound like fans should expect gratuitous amounts of blood during the bout. During a new interview with David Shoemaker for The Ringer, Triple H spoke about how blood has been toned down in WWE in recent years. He said that there still is blood in matches, but he feels like in general, there’s no sense in adding more danger to an already dangerous sport.

“The world has changed. The world has evolved. I don’t think it’s necessary,” Triple H said. “There is still blood in WWE, but there are medical personnel to check on wrestlers if there is an inadvertent cut. If we have talent that gets [cut open], usually you’ll see them roll out and they’ll get looked at to make sure that there’s nothing dangerous,” he added. “I’m just of the opinion right now, given the state of the world and the pandemic, and at the end of the day, what we do is dangerous enough without intentionally making it more dangerous. Yes, we did [feature bleeding] for a long period of time, but we’ve changed that practice. And it’s irresponsible to go back.”

Triple H confirmed a men’s and women’s match would take place at Survivor Series, but said it would be more storyline-driven and not just a ‘RAW vs. SmackDown’ match. As for why War Games at Survivor Series made sense, he said he took a fan’s perspective for the decision.

“One of the things that Vince used to always say is if you put yourself in the seats, you could never go wrong. Now, all fans have different points of view. All you gotta do is go online now and you’ll see every single person has a different point of view and they’re happy to express it,” he stated. “But I think if you go out there and you think, What would you wanna see? If you’re a fan and you just love what we do, what would you want to see?”

The 2022 WWE Survivor Series premium live event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 26 at TD Garden in Boston.
