Tony Khan Comments On AEW Relationship With Pro Wrestling NOAH

After Tony Khan surprised the world by having The Great Muta appear on AEW Rampage: Grand Slam to assist Sting, it was then confirmed that The Icon will be heading to Japan next year to participate in Muta’s final match.

All Elite Wrestling owner Tony Khan recently spoke with Pro Wrestling NOAH regarding his fandom of The Great Muta since he was a young kid and that he would work with NOAH in 2023, confirming that Sting will take part in Muta’s last match this January.

“I’m a huge fan of The Great Muta,” Tony Khan began. “Great Muta is a wrestler I saw when I was very young. First, when I was eight years old, and the first time I saw Great Muta wrestle was against Sting on a VHS of the Great American Bash 1989 I got from Blockbuster Video. And then I saw many Great Muta matches. Super Brawl III against Barry Windham, the Japan Super shows with WCW.

“And then, when I was 12 years old, I started trading tapes, and I watched a lot of New Japan Pro Wrestling, and I loved when Great Muta would come to WCW when I was a kid, and I followed Great Muta in his career through different promotions, and it was such a pleasure to come full circle and see Great Muta in the ring with AEW’s greatest icon Sting on AEW Rampage: Grand Slam in New York City.

“It was a beautiful moment to see Sting and Darby Allin out there together with Great Muta. In particular, Sting and Great Muta are great friends, longtime rivals, and linked in history; I think together forever through many decades. And I can say that in 2023 next year, Sting will come to Yokohama, Japan, with NOAH and represent AEW overseas this January next year. The legacy of Sting and the legacy of The Great Muta continues on into 2023 AEW and NOAH working together. Thank you.”
