Tony Khan Comments On Hangman Page’s Concussion

Tony Khan offers an update on Hangman Page.

Page suffered a concussion on the October 18 episode of AEW Dynamite, where he challenged Jon Moxley for the AEW World Champion. The referee stopped the match, and after doctors checked on Page, doctors took him out of the ring on a stretcher. AEW subsequently announced that Page had been diagnosed with a concussion, and he would remain in the company’s concussion protocol.

In an interview with  First Coast News on October 21, Khan was asked whether he had an update about Page. The AEW president responded by noting that Hangman was doing “really well” and stating that he was in good spirits shortly after he suffered the injury. He also praised the way everyone involved handled the situation. Khan complimented the doctors, the referee, and Moxley, whom he called “very classy”.

“He’s doing really well,” Khan said. “I talked to him just in the past 24 hours and also saw him not long after he was officially cleared. I saw gun right after he came back, and he was, not long after we took him to the hospital, he got out, and it was great to see him in good spirits that night. About ninety minutes after he got hurt, he was smiling and feeling pretty good, so that’s about as fortunate as we could be, given that he got knocked out in a match.

“I thought the doctors and the referee handled it really well because that’s what you have to do in a big fight. If one of the fighters gets hurt, that’s what you need, is a referee that’s gonna come in and do the right thing, stop the fight and then Hangman, the doctors took care of him, got him out of there. Jon, of course, I thought handled it very well in his interview. He was very classy afterwards.”

Khan went on to describe how, while the in-ring storyline progressed to the feud between Moxley and MJF, the most important development is that Hangman is okay. He commended Page for being a great former champion and a a “huge part” of the company.

“After they safely got Hangman out of there, we saw then going forward, it’s gonna be Jon Moxley versus MJF for the World Championship, and that is a huge story in pro wrestling,” Khan said. “But also I think one of the most important stories in pro wrestling that takes precedent over everything right now is Hangman’s okay, and Hangman’s another great former world champion, somebody that’s been awesome for this company from the beginning, from day one, and is a huge part of it, and also was a huge part of the summer and a great part of the Grand Slam, the winner of the Golden Ticket Battle Royal.

“He was having a great match against Job Moxley, and it was very unfortunate he got knocked out there. But both men I think have a great future in AEW and two great champions, Jon Moxley and Hangman Page.”

It is currently unclear how long Page will be sidelined.
