Report: Drew McIntyre’s Absence Not Expected To Be Long-Term

Drew McIntyre was pulled from the December 9 episode of WWE SmackDown, but his absence is expected to be relatively short.

McIntyre and Sheamus were scheduled to challenge The Usos (Jey and Jimmy Uso) for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship on Friday. But on December 5, McIntyre announced that he had been medically disqualified ahead of the match. As a result, Sheamus will instead team up with Butch on Friday’s episode of SmackDown.

In an update, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that McIntyre will be back soon, as his “medical situation” is minor, and it is a short-term issue.

Likewise, on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that McIntyre isn’t expected to be out for long. He stated that the former WWE Champion wanted to compete on Friday, but WWE wouldn’t let him due to the injury. Meltzer also stated that, at the moment, McIntyre is supposed to be back in time for WWE’s live events around Christmas.

McIntyre hasn’t wrestled since the WWE live event on November 27.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
