Saraya: Prior To Joining AEW, Triple H Offered Me A Chance To Be GM Or Wrestle

Saraya says Triple H was hopeful that she would stick around in some capacity.

During a recent interview with Metro UK, Saraya shared how she received an offer to stay in WWE from Triple H, who had recently taken over creative duties after Vince McMahon’s retirement.

“Man, I do love Hunter, he’s so fantastic. He was like, ‘Wait what happened?!’ [about her contract expiring]. I was like, ‘I dunno, they haven’t renewed my contract.’ He was like, ‘Oh my gosh! Well I didn’t know that, so I’m sorry!’ He was really fantastic. He did give me the opportunity to potentially be a GM again, and give me the opportunity to be like, ‘If you ever potentially want to wrestle again, I’ll give you that opportunity too.’ He was very open about any ideas that I had.”

Saraya says she appreciated the offer but she was intrigued about what was going on in All Elite Wrestling.

“When AEW started you’re kinda like, ‘ooh, what’s going on over there?’ It’s like the movie, the bad boy with a leather jacket and a cigarette, kinda cruising in the background like, ‘Who’s that bad boy?’ You’re definitely intrigued by the company! Just seeing how quickly in three years that it’s built – I’m like, this company! You have the bad, tribal fans, but whether you like them or not you can’t fault how amazing it is to become another goliath company like that.”

Saraya was officially released by WWE on July 7, 2022, one month after she announced that her contract would not be renewed by the company.

Saraya made her All Elite Wrestling debut at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam in September 2022, and had her first match in the company at Full Gear in November. She will compete in her second match for AEW on Wednesday, January 11 when she teams with Toni Storm against Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter.
