MJF And Tony Khan Comment On Drink-Throwing Incident At AEW Revolution

MJF sparked some controversy at AEW Revolution.

In the main event of AEW Revolution on March 5, MJF put his AEW World Championship on the line in a 60-Minute Iron Man Match against Bryan Danielson. MJF’s ultimate victory was somewhat marred by a controversial moment when he took a cup of water and threw it at a kid. Some viewers thought the moment was part of the act, while word that the young fan was actually upset started circulating.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported that the kid was apparently not a plant, as he was upset after MJF threw water at him. Fightful’s Will Washington, among others in AEW, helped resolve the situation.

MJF and AEW owner Tony Khan were asked about the incident at the AEW Revolution post-show media scrum. MJF responded by saying the fan looked like he could use a drink.

“The kid looked thirsty,” he said. “What’s the second question?

When asked whether there would be any consequences for MJF, Khan stated that they had a serious conversation about the incident, and the situation wasn’t to be taken lightly. He stated that the fan, who he identified as Titus, was a “real champ”, and he believed he would be in attendance at AEW Dynamite in Sacramento on March 8.

“We had a conversation before we came up here,” Khan said. “We had a serious conversation and I mean that. It’s not to be taken lightly. The young man, Titus, was a real pro about it. We’ll see Titus here again at AEW. I believe Titus is actually coming to Sacramento. I was just with him, and he was a real champ about it. The champion didn’t act like a champion there, but I think Titus was great.

MJF concluded, “Salt of the earth, that Titus. Real worried about him.”

During the scrum, MJF also discussed his victory and highlighted his intense preparation for the match.

Update: On Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez reported that, pr multiple sources, water was not in the cup MJF threw; instead, it was apparently tequila, and the fan was upset about that. He then noted that Titus was brought backstage, and he was given signed merchandise, as well as tickets to AEW Dynamite on March 8.
