ROH Pure Championship Match Announced For ROH Supercard Of Honor

Ring of Honor continues to load up the card for ROH Supercard of Honor.

ROH will hold its first pay-per-view of 2023, Supercard of Honor, on March 31. Several buzzworthy bouts have already been confirmed for the card, and Tony Khan added another one to the lineup in a tweet on March 27. Khan announced that Katsuyori Shibata will challenge Wheeler Yuta for the ROH Pure Championship at the show.

Yuta has targeted Shibata in recent weeks on ROH TV, and he is riding plenty of momentum following successful defenses over Timothy Thatcher and Clark Connors. Shibata was previously forced to retire due to a subdural hematoma in 2017, but he has wrestled a handful of times in recent years.

Shibata competed in an exhibition bout at NJPW G1 Climax 31 Finals, and he took on Ren Narita at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17. He also made his AEW in-ring debut on the November 4 episode of AEW Rampage, where he faced AEW All-Atlantic Champion Orange Cassidy.

Update: Tony Khan also announced that The Embassy (Brian Cage, Jasper Kaun & Toa Liona) will defend the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship against Gran Metalik, AR Fox, and Blake Christian.

WrestleZone will have coverage of ROH Supercard of Honor as it airs on March 31.
