Dalton Castle: I’m Grateful For Tony Khan, AEW Makes The Wrestling World Better

Dalton Castle praises Tony Khan and the new Ring of Honor.

Castle was one of the top stars during the previous era of ROH; he won the ROH World Championship, and he also held the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship. After ROH went on hiatus following ROH Final Battle 2021, AEW CEO Tony Khan acquired the company in March 2022. ROH started running pay-per-views with Supercard of Honor XV in April, and Castle gradually regained his status as a prominent member of the roster; he and The Boys won the six-man titles at ROH Death Before Dishonor in July.

Speaking with Amy Nemmity of Wrestle Joy, Castle made it clear that he’s thankful for Khan, both for his contributions to ROH and wrestling itself. He stated that the AEW CEO makes the world of wrestling better by providing so many jobs and giving fans an alternative. Castle also expressed his confidence in the way ROH is up and running in the aftermath of Khan’s acquisition.

“I think it might be clear, how much gratitude I have for him, not just in Ring of Honor, but wrestling, and… with AEW existing, the world of pro wrestling is better,” Castle said. “There are so many jobs, and everyone gets to work, and the fans get to watch a million things.

“When he bought Ring of Honor, the big question was, ‘Well, what’s he going to do with it?’ He could have just bought it and put it up on a streaming service and used all of the library, but he didn’t! We’re going for it! There’s a TV show, Honor Club is back and running, and it looks great! He’s keeping it alive! He’s putting more into it, and like, it’s gonna get big. It feels like it’s just going to get bigger and bigger, and that’s exciting!”

Castle continued by describing how he’s happy to be a part of the new ROH, and he appreciates the way Khan is bringing in people who are meaningful in the linage of ROH.

“Tony Khan cares a lot about the lineage and people who mean a lot to Ring of Honor, he’s bringing them in, there’s a lot of familiar faces,” Castle said. “Not everybody got full time jobs, but they’re still in the ring, getting exposure, and people watching them. While also doing 4 other shows plus whatever sports teams and things he’s involved in. I don’t know how he does it all, but I’m so happy to be watching it, participating in it, and benefiting from it.”
