Stephen Amell Says He Is Involved In A Project With WWE

Stephen Amell says that he is involved in a project with WWE.

Amell, the star of Heels, a show about professional wrestling, has been involved in the wrestling world before. He has made multiple appearances on WWE programming, and he competed at WWE SummerSlam 2015. Amell also wrestled at ROH Survival of the Fittest 2017 and the All In event in 2018. Plus, he accompanied Cody Rhodes to the ring at AEW Revolution 2020.

Speaking with Connor Casey of ComicBook, Amell was asked about potentially collaborating with WWE or AEW to promote Heels. He noted that they have talked about various possibilities before he cited Cody Rhodes being in WWE, whereas Punk is in AEW. Amell stated that AEW might be a more natural path, but he is also involved in a project with WWE. (H/t ComicBook for the transcription.)

“We have talked about various avenues for promoting the second season of the show,” Amell said. “I mean, obviously we’re a little less than two months away from it coming out, so we still have a little bit of time, but we’re kicking around some ideas. Obviously if Cody was still with AEW, it’d be pretty cut and dry that we would do something with AEW. Now we got (Punk), who’s on the show with AEW. We got Cody back in WWE.

“So I have a connection with Phil. I have a connection with Cody. I haven’t done anything with AEW. I’ve done stuff with WWE. AEW feels like it might be a little bit more of a natural path right now, but I also am involved in a project for the WWE that comes out right around the same time that the second season of Heels comes out. So it’s like, man, I don’t know.”

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.

Heels season two will premiere on STARZ on July 28.
